Berlin, 2021
Leerolina was our first ever project, which consisted of several workshops with children. The workshops resulted in a co-designed public space installation in Berlin, as well as a poster exhibition.
The name LeerOlina comes from combining two words: Leer (=germ. "empty") and Berolina (=female personification of the city Berlin). The project took place in spring 2021 in Haus der Statistik, (previously abandoned, now neighbourhood-run building for arts and community projects) in central Berlin. By putting children in the shoes of urban planners through several tasks in several workshops, packed together with playful and investigative approach, we tried to find out:
how the children see their neighborhood through their perspective?
what would they change in their neighborhood?
how would they design the neighborhood to better fit their needs?
Our main aim was to co-design a playful spatial intervention in the street: a "site-specific" installation near Haus der Statistik in Berlin: one that can be used by everyone and make the neighbourhood more spontaneous and fun.
